Okay! So, imagine a hivemind or gem drone/hivemind au, where Reader is human, but helps one of the wounded hivemind members, and basically spends a year or two with them? Reader helps them gain a bit more free will, asks them questions amd makes them feel loved, and gives them food and flowers and rocks and leaves as gifts. Amd the hivemind member/drone/gem drone just, struggles at first. But then accept it. This being is so small, and warm, and has bright eyes and fluffy hair and such a sweet, wild laugh- it is a darling creature, a daring one, a clever one! It should be cherished! And the hivemind is told of it, and they come to love Reader just as much...

Then the member with Reader finds out they'll die one day, and promptly breaks down once they realize what death is. They can't stand it, they won't hear of it, they accept it! They make Reader promise to not die, and all Reader can say is they'll try...

The member soon has an idea, and runs it by their hive, then by Reader: Reader can become like they are! They'll be part of the hive, they'll be safe, they'll be cherished, and they won't ever have to be apart!

Reader... They're quiet, and ask to sleep on it. Except the next day, when their companion wakes up, finds Reader missing, with just a note, apologizing... They're heartbroken, but reason with themself/the hive that Reader just doesn't know what they're doing. It's like what they'd said before, humans don't always know what's good for them, they fear change, they're like children at times; Reader isn't trying to hurt them, they just don't understand that this is what's good for them, that it won't be bad!

So now the adult is out to find their missing little one, there's a whole hive in on it too, and Reader makes other friends in different small cities and towns of this version of Earth, with little technology and communities around fishing and farming and trade...

(Extra: Reader is definitely friends with Scott, Kurt, Kitty, Pietro, and Laura at one point or another, as well as all the other teens/kids; Reader is very sibling/cousin/friend coded, y'know?)

Are they good liars? Do they have tells to show they're lying?

No, Evangeline hates and doesn't know how to lie. When she have to, you'll certainly tell that she's lying by the way she hides her hands behind her back, how her eyes are not fixed on the person and the failure of a precise tone on her voice.

What emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

Anger and sadness. Evangeline have a bad time trying to deal with these because she was raised to be that perfect, poised and flawless prototype of girl, so when feeling furious or blue, she tries to repress as much as she can that feels because it does not seems "right". Even if she knows that is okay to explode, burst in tears, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

What are some habits they have that will take some time getting used to?

Surely her overly worried behaviour and her cleaning mania. She's always too much worried with people around her, making sure they're well fed, hydrated and etc, and have a habit of cleaning everything on her sight field whenever she's anxious or nervous. What was not Dante's surprise when they were roommates to see the whole Devil May Cry shop well clean and organized enough, even if Evangeline was sore and exhausted at the sofa.

What is their family like?

Evangeline's family was only her, her father Hamaliel and her mother, Rachel Céliath. Hamaliel was a Virtue angel, categorized by his flashy pearly white hair and golden eyes, while Rachel had curly rebel ginger hair, freckles on her skin and breath-taking jade green eyes. Evangeline got her mother's eyes and her father's hair.

As for their relationship... Evangeline was mostly raised by Hamaliel and with mostly I mean that Rachel got severely sick and bedridden once she gave birth to her, the reason why is a huge spoiler. Hamaliel is not a good soul, okay? He's a asshole, manipulative, cold-blooded but he got the ability to make people swoon over him and his honeyed words. Did Evangeline and Rachel knew about that? Absolutely not, they had the thought and sure that he was a amazing father and husband. Until Evangeline discovered his real self when she was ten years old, when Hamaliel abandoned her on her own luck.

How loud are they? What do they speak like? Got a voice claim?

She's not very loud, her way of speaking is poised, calm and collected. Evangeline rarely shouts to anyone, and if she have to, it will be at demons or when she's having a outburst of feelings. As for a voice claim, I'm gonna say Lucie Pohl (a.k.a Mercy's VA on Overwatch, except that Evangeline does not have a German accent).

What traits do they look for in a relationship? Do they believe in love at first sight?

She values compassion and truth the most, someone who is comfortable enough to be themself with her so she can also be herself with them, someone gentle, affectionate, romantic, interested on knowing her as she will be interested on knowing them, who's not afraid to love and be loved, someone who makes her laugh, a partner she can rely on when the days are blue and gloomy. More than just a companion, a mate for life, if life allows them to be together.

You see, Evangeline is a romantic by heart but love at first sight seems superficial to her. You can't just go out there, bat your eyes at a random person and claim that they are the one. If you want to actually build a romance, do it by knowing the person bit by bit. As Sade would say (better, sing): It's about faith, it's about trust.

A soft headcanon (ft. Dante)

Oddly enough, Evangeline loves rainy days. It makes her happy, giggly and enthusiastic, so much that she'll go out and dance in the rain. Sure, it brings her sort of bittersweet memories of her childhood when she used to dance with her father, but at the moment she looks back at the window, it's not Hamaliel who's there, looking at her with a curious smile. It's Dante.

"What'cha doing out there, angelcake?"

"Come along, Dante! Come dance with me!"

How could he refuse, seeing that giant grin on her beautiful face?

"Alright. After all, it takes two to tango. I wonder who's gonna catch a intense cold first, though..."

"You silly daredevil!"

What is their go-to outfit?

Black shirts, turtlenecks under her iconic, long-tailed white coat, leather gloves that cover only her middle and ring fingers, either deep blue or black leather/jeans pants and also black high-heeled boots. There is some golden details on her coat (zippers mostly), too.
